Biography

Dr. Md Shahin Alam is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Illinois State University, Normal, IL. Before joining Illinois State, he served as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Western Illinois University, Quad Cities, IL. Dr. Alam earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Oakland University in Michigan and an M.E. in Electrical Engineering from McNeese State University, LA. He also earned a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from RUET, Bangladesh.

Dr. Alam has over a decade of teaching experience across multiple institutions and has instructed more than 25 different courses, ranging from foundational undergraduate topics to advanced graduate-level subjects. His research focuses on the optimization of planning and operational strategies for modern power distribution networks, with expertise in energy management, renewable energy integration, energy storage systems, electric vehicles, cybersecurity in smart grids, and microgrid technologies. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed research papers in leading journals and conferences. He is a member of IEEE.
